19 Aug Alex + Jill | Married on the St. Lawrence River
Have you heard of the 1000 islands? If you are not an east coaster, you probably only know them as the title of a funky salad dressing (ketchup and mayonnaise on a salad, seriously?). They are, however, a real place located in upstate New York on the St. Lawrence River, and this lovely bride and groom got to say I do on one of them! Lucky! Since much of the land on this particular island has been in the groom’s immediate and extended family for years and the bride’s family hails from nearby Syracuse, it was the perfect place to bring their families together and exchange vows. Add in the surrounding beauty, the outdoorsy summer camp feel (except you don’t have to bunk with strangers and there’s always great food, wine and cold beer) and friends and family willing to pitch in to make it all happen, and you have the makings of a magical event. It took a lot of splinters, sweat, and planning for it all to come together–think about it, everything and everyone had to arrive by BOAT!–but it all went off without a hitch. I was honored to be asked to document this day, and a little extra nervous having just married into this family last year (no pressure :)). Here’s to Alex and Jill, their adorable love, and to me still being invited back to the island! Enjoy this peek inside their day.
